RDMS Team drives

Team drives are areas in the RDMS where researchers and data managers can add their research data and share their data with other users of the RDMS.

Team drives may be considered as data sharing areas for collaborations. The main differences between a group drive and a project area is the permissions and restrictions set to the data inside those directories.

For example in a project area the data manager is the only user who has the rights to create a project, grant permissions to users or remove data objects. In the team drive area, every user may create a directory and add data to share with other users.

Once a “Shared drive” (“Group drive”) has been created, the owner or the users with enough privileges may add new directories and data objects to it.

Every RDMS user with enough privileges on a shared directory can grant access to other users to the data stored in a shared folder. To share the content of a folder or directory, navigate to the data management in the left menu select the directory. Use the right mouse button. This will open a drop-down menu with a set of options. Select “Add user” option to grant access to a user. This operation will open a new pannel where one can select a user name and the desired level of acces for the specified user. Click “Change permissions” button to apply the changes.
