Using the RDMS

There are two kinds of users to the RDMS;

  • users who store their own research data in a structural manner. These researchers order and structure their data themselves to keep overview of their work and data
  • Data managers, data engineers and data stewards. These users organize and set up file structures and file rights for multiple researchers. Maybe add metadata templates to folders to ensure their integrity or add triggers to the folders or files. These users manage data for a project or a research group.

The first chapters of this wiki is for the researcher who wants to store her data on the RDMS. The first part is about Access to the RDMS via CLI, Web DAV or the Graphical User Interface (GUI). The GUI is described, but we do think the interface is easy to use. The second part of this wiki is for the data managers and data stewards

For staff members in the role of data engineer, data engineer or data steward a normal workflow for the datamanagement and the proper use of the RDMS would be:

  • Add a project and name the project
  • Add members to the project and assign the rights they need
  • Set a metadata template on a folder or file
