Advanced: Remote desktop

This function gives access to a Linux graphical user interface. In order to get access you can download X2Go client from: wiki.x2go.org/
Install the downloaded package (recommended settings if you don’t know what to choose).
When the software is started, you will see a “Session preferences” window. In order to use graphical displays, you have to connect to the interactive node or interactive GPU node with your account.
Host: pg-interactive.hpc.rug.nl or pg-gpu.hpc.rug.nl
Login: p123456 (your account number)

Choose for session type XFCE and choose OK:

Now the session is shown at the top left, click on it in order to log in with your regular account number and password.

After logging in you should see something similar to the following image:

Now you are able to use the remote desktop on the peregrine. E.g. use firefox:
