The procedure on how we close a VRE can be found in the previous section.

After the work is done on the data set and when the project is closed, the data will become static and needs to be published or archived.

The UG offers the RDMS for archiving data.

Right now (as of July 2026) we do not yet have an automatized procedure on saving research data to the RDMS. So for now the owner of the VRE needs to make arrangements on archiving the data to a proper platform.

Most often a data manager is appointed who takes the responsibility of archiving the data to the RDMS. The data manager creates the packages for publication and archiving and arranges the access to these platforms. The dcc@rug.nl can help you with support on these procedures..
