This page gives a short summary about basic requirements to get you started to use the RDMS.
All staff and students of the UG have access to the RDMS. An account will be automatically created after the first login via the
web interface.
For archiving sensitive research data, users must store their data in the Sensitive Data Zone. To access this zone, users should first contact
rdms-support@rug.nl to request access.
Only UG members with a personnel number (P-number) or student number (S-number) can log in to the RDMS directly. Please
contact us if other UG accounts, for example functional accounts (F-number) need access.
Make sure you are in the network of the UG! The RDMS is only accessible from the UG network, meaning that you can only log in to the system with an IP-address from the UG. On the UG premises, Eduroam or wired internet connection will give you an internal IP-address. On other machines and locations, you need to use a
VPN connection.
Now, you are set to start using the RDMS via your choice of platforms and protocols. For example, you can now use Cyberduck for file management and the web portal for management of permissions and metadata. Or, you can use the command line interface (CLI) for both tasks.
In this wiki, you will find documentation for the setup and use of popular GUI clients like Cyberduck and WinSCP with the RDMS. The usage of the CLI client, iCommands
, is also explained in detail. It is also explained how to establish a connection to the RDMS from Hábrók HPC, how to connect RDMS from LWP, as well has how to use the RDMS inside Unishare.
