Using the RDMS

There are two kinds of users to the RDMS

1. Users who want to store research data in a structural manner. These users order and structure their data themselves to keep overview of their work and data. Metadata may be added to enhance searchability or make it easier to retrieve datasets. They can choose to store their data in home drives, group drives or as a project.
2. Users who act as data managers. These users manage data for a project or a research group where they admin the Team Drives. For this, special privileges are needed which can be granted by RDMS support.

The chapters on Access, Uploading and Metadata in this wiki are intended for researchers who want to store their data and manage metadata on the RDMS. If a group environment is required, the RDMS Team Drive would be a suitable option. The chapter on Managing Projects in this wiki is designed for users with roles such as data managers, data stewards, and similar positions.

In order to optimally use the RDMS, we advise all users to read the Best Practices section which is regularly updated.
