Typical Use of the VRE

This environment can be applied:

• when restrictive requirements are imposed on the data,
• when the research project is a partnership or cooperation with members outside of the UG or
• when additional (virtual) hardware like extra storage, memory or computing power is necessary for working with the data.

Examples of use are various. We host multiple studies on topics like medical data where extra security is needed due to the sensitivity of the data, but also because extra computing power was added to the study. There are also examples where the VRE is used as a basis for accessing a non-mutable data set and where multiple researchers create their own subset within the VRE to do their research.
