The most simple way to access a virtual LWP (vLWP) session is by using a web browser. Simply open vlwp.rug.nl/ in a browser tab and login with your UG credentials. Afterwards, first select “Create a new desktop or custom session”, as shown below.
In the next window, simply select “Create a new virtual session” to start the actual vLWP session.
When starting a session for the first time, you will be presented with different settings that you can select according to your liking. If you are asked about what you would like for the resizing of the window/desktop, we would recommend that you select the option for automatically adjusting the remote resolution. This will make it easier to keep visual consistency in your session, if you resize the window.
Once your virtual session starts, you will have access to the LWP Home and Project directories, but also to the X:/Y: Drive that are available via UFC/UWP/VWP. Please be aware that your X: Drive might not appear directly, see info in the LWP wiki. The screenshot below shows how your access to each Drive/directory will look like.
Note that you do not have access to your local files in this way! If you want to access your local system, please refer to the Accessing the LWP with the NoMachine App or the Accessing the LWP via SSH pages.
Finally, to adjust the settings of your current virtual LWP session or to terminate it, you can reveal the session menu by hovering over the top-right corner. This will reveal a button, as shown below. You can click on it to open the menu where you can make adjustments and close the connection.
