===== Installation =====

Kaltura Capture is a widget that you can install locally on your machine. As such, you should make sure that you are working on a machine where you have sufficient rights to install software. If you are working on a **University Workspace (UWP) machine**, then you will not have the option to install programs. To access Kaltura Capture from a UWP instance, please follow the steps listed in the paragraph below: [[https://wiki.hpc.rug.nl/dcc/itsol/kaltura/install#using_kaltura_capture_from_a_uwp_machine|Using Kaltura Capture from a UWP machine]]. 

**Important Note**: 
  * If you are running a **Linux system**, there is no installer available on the page shown below. If this is the case, please contact us at [[dcc@rug.nl|dcc@rug.nl]].

If you have checked that you have the right to install software on your PC, these are the steps you need to follow to have Kaltura Capture installed and ready on your workspace:

  - Go to the [[https://video.rug.nl/|Video Portal of the University of Groningen]].
  - Click on Guest, and then Login. {{ :dcc:itsol:kaltura:capture:instal_01.png?direct&900 | }}
  - If asked, use your UG account (P-number and password) to log into the page.
  - Click on //Add New//, then select //Kaltura Capture// in the options given. {{ :dcc:itsol:kaltura:capture:instal_02.png?direct&900 | }}
  - On the page displayed, select the correct installer for your operating system and download it.  {{ :dcc:itsol:kaltura:capture:instal_03.png?direct&900 | }} **Note**: If you **already have Kaltura Capture installed on your machine**, then the program will simply start when you open the page shown above. If this is the case, you can skip the next steps.
  - Start the installation by executing the file you downloaded and click Next on the first window. The window shown below will be displayed. Here you can select which folder will contain the recordings you take with Kaltura Capture. {{ :dcc:itsol:kaltura:capture:instal_04.png?direct&400 | }} **Note**: Once this folder is selected, it cannot be changed later on. Please make sure that the path you select is the one you want.
  - Click Next until the installation finishes, then close the window. The Kaltura Capture icon should now be found on your desktop.

==== Using Kaltura Capture from a UWP machine ====

If you are using a **physical UWP instance**, then Kaltura Capture has been installed for you already. All you have to do is access the application and link your account to your account in Brightspace. More instructions follow below. If you are connecting to the UWP virtually, then Kaltura Capture will not be available to you on that system. If this is the case, please follow the instructions above to install Kaltura Capture on your machine locally. 

Steps to prepare Kaltura Capture for recording:
  - Open the start menu by clicking the //Windows icon//.
  - Type in the search bar: //Kaltura Capture//.
  - Click on the Kaltura Capture icon.
  - The application will display a message asking you to start it from Brightspace.
  - Log into Brightspace.
  - Navigate to //UG Tools// > //Kaltura My Media// > //Add New// > //Kaltura Capture//.
  - Your account should now be coupled with Brightspace.
Once you are done with the steps above, you can use Kaltura Capture to record your interview. Please note, **Kaltura Capture on a UWP instance should always be opened from Brightspace**. To access Kaltura Capture after you have done the first set up, simply go to Brightspace directly and launch the widget from there.
